One of the biggest differences between SGI and many other UK suppliers is our use of genuine V10 privacy glass.
The V10 specification refers to approximately 10% light transmission, providing the privacy expected within an ambulance while still allowing sufficient natural light into the patient compartment.
This balance is important. Patients require privacy and dignity during treatment, but clinicians also need a bright, comfortable environment inside the vehicle.
Many ambulance specifications issued by NHS Trusts require V10 privacy glass. However, not every supplier offering "privacy glass" is supplying genuine V10 glass. Some products marketed as privacy glass have significantly higher light transmission, meaning they don't provide the same level of privacy.
SGI is currently the only UK glass manufacturer producing genuine V10 privacy glass for ambulance builders. We source specialist glass from a select number of approved European manufacturers before processing and manufacturing the finished windows here in the UK.
For ambulance builders, this removes uncertainty and helps ensure the finished vehicle matches the specification expected by the customer.
Every SGI ambulance window is manufactured using glazing materials that comply with ECE R43 (UN Regulation 43).
ECE R43 is the recognised international safety standard for automotive glazing. It ensures vehicle glass provides:
